Introduction:
Kodaikanal is located in the Palani Hills in the state of Tamilnadu. Kodaikanal is one of the great tourism destinations of southern India. In 1834, the collector of Madurai climbed the Kodaikanal hill from Devadanapatti and built a small one Stori House at the head of Adukkam near Shenbaganur. In 1836, Dr. Wite visited Kodaikanal and recorded his remark . In 1845, American Missionaries built the first two Storied House in “Sunnyside” and “Shelton” after six American families came up the hill and stayed for the first time in Kodaikanal. Kodaikanal is 120 km away from Madurai, at an vertical hight is 2100 mt. . Attractions:
The Lake : The Berijam Lake is one of the major attractions in Kodaikanal hill station. located at the heart of the main town area, it is also a favourite evening spot for the locals as well. Berijam lake can only be visited with the permission from the District Forest Officer as it is not opened to general public. Here you can also try out some boating courtesy the Boat Club that is located here.
Flora & Fauna Museum : Flora & Fauna Museum very educative in Kodaikanal,Located at the Sacred Heart College is a 6km hike from the town centre, but definitely worth a visit. The Orchidarium here has about 300 species of orchids and other exotic plants.
Kurinji Andavar Temple : Temple located 3km northeast of the Lake and is dedicated to Lord Muruga.
Pillar Rocks : The Pillar rocks are measuring a height of about 400 feet from the ground and the chambers that are seen between the two pillars are known as Devil's Kitchen.Located about 7km from the lake. The shady woods that are in the vicinity of these huge boulders are a perfect spot to enjoy a picnic.
Solar observatory : it is one of the only three solar observatories in the world that is more than 75 years old. Situated at a distance of 3.2 kilometres from the Kodaikanal lake, Built at an elevation of 2343 meters, the Solar Observatory was built at the highest point of the Kodaikanal town.
Bryant Park : Bryant Park is located in the heart of the town, 0.3 km away from bus stand. The Botanical park was originally planned and formed by a forest officer of Madurai, Mr. H.D. Bryant in 1908 and named after him.Cut flowers are exported from here. In month of May, the annual horticultural show in held here.

By Train: Kodai Railway Station is the nearest railway station , this is 80 km away from Kodaikanal.
By Road: Kodaikanal is connected by road with important towns. Regular bus services are available from Madurai, Palani, Kodaikanal Road, Theni, Dindigul, Tiruchirapalli, Kumuli (Thekkady) and Coimbatore.
