Around Sariska:

Neelkanth:
A very extraordinary temple Neelkhant is aroud for sariska ,it prospered for more than 10th centuries, surrounded as it was by dense forests, alive with wild animals said to predate the Khajuraho temple, these are again a series of exquisitely carved temples chiseled by great craftmen who remained anonymous in the best Indian tradition. Hindu, Buddhist and jain culturs are represented in Neelkhant Temple. A colossal statue of the 23rd Jain Tirthankara, Parashvanathan, an image of the elephant headed Ganesha with a woman seated on his knee, and a reclining Vishnu, are truly outstanding image. A rare image of Vishnu in his "Varaha"(boar) incarnation is a theme repeated at Bhangarh and Talbraksha clearly indicative of the size of this Gujar-Partihar kingdom which reached its zenith, during 750-950 A.D.

Bhangarh:

Bhangarh, founded by Maharaja Bhagwan Dasji in 1574 A.D., is an ancient town of archaeological significance. Surrounded by the Aravali hills and dense forests, Bhangarh is a pre-historic site.On the outskirts of the Sariska Sanctuary, set amidst forests, watered by murmuring streams and with the imposing backdrop of the Aravalis, lie the ruins of Bhangarh. The well-planned city was established in 1531 by Madho Singh, younger brother of the famous Man Singh of Amer. Though Bhangarh is in ruins today, it used to be a flourishing town during the medieval period. For half a mile along the main road, are shops on either side-perfectly symmetrical and harmoniously balanced, sings of a prosperous urban center. The famous ruler of Bhangarh was Madho Singh Kachhawah, who was the younger brother of Raja Man Singh I of Amer. Remains of the old palace, beautiful temples and bazaars (market) are witness to Bhangarh's prosperity.Specially worthy of attention are two temples ornately carved in stone and marble. Legend veils the reasons behind the abandoning of the enchanting place. Bhangarh remains hauntingly desolate today except for the ubiquitous monkeys, peacocks and the rare visitor, Internecine quarrels had, however, already caused the shifting of the capital to 32kms away, where the remains of old monuments can still be seen.

Kankwari Fort:

Kankwari fort is a picturesque 17th century fortress set atop a solitary hillock rising out of the surrounding wilderness. The fort is yet another famous monument, although it lies in ruins todayA steep flight of stairs leads up to the fort where faded wall paintings still vibrate with beauty.Dara Shikoh the rightful heir to the Mughal throne is said to have been held captive by his brother, the usurper Aurangzab.

Talbraksha:
Talbraksha, with its healing sulphur springs and ruins of ancient temples, is a serene village steeped in legends Associated with the Pandava prince of the Mahabharata. Talbraksha is situated on the Sariska-Alwar road in Alwar District of Rajasthan. It is famous for cluster of temples of varying ages.It abounds in greenery and affords visitor the opportunity to glimpse one of the big cats as it descends from the surrounding hills in search of pray. The Shiva temple built in the typical panchayatna (five houses) pattern can be found. Talbraksha is also cited in the great epic mahabharata as the place where Arjuna shot into the ground and sprouted the Banganga. The Alwar Museam is located in the upper storey of the city place. The arts and scholarship flourished under the patronage of the Alwar Maharajas and the court attracted great writers, painters and musicians. A copy of the Mahabharata minutely written out in a single 80 yd. Page: an illuminated Koran, and an exclusive copy of the Persian Gulistan, lovingly created over 10 year, are some of the gems of a priceless collection of Sanskrit, Arabic, Persian and Urdu manuscripts. Akbar and Aurangzeb.  melody.
