Pushkar

        Introduction:


Pushkar is one of the oldest cities of India which has the only one temple of Lord Brahma in the country.The holy city of Pushkar is situated on the banks of the Pushkar Lake. Pushkar is about 11-kms away from Ajmer. It is famous for the extravagant, flamboyant Pushkar Fair. The fair brings alive the glorious tradition of Rajasthan and the roaring enthusiasm of fair participants as well as visitors makes it a lifetime experience. It’s the only fair which attracts unbelievable amount of foreign tourists.
 you can reach Ajmer and then take a bus or a cab to Pushkar. Ajmer is located on the Delhi-Jaipur-Ahmedabad-Mumbai line and most trains of this route stop there. There's also a daily Shatabdi Express which runs from Delhi.The nearest airport is Jaipur, around 135kms away. By road Ajmer is almost 8hrs drive from Delhi.But the Delhi-Jaipur Highway is one of the best roadways service to reach Pushkar, so road travel is not difficult at all.

Temples

The only standing Hindu temple in India dedicated to Lord Brahma, the creator of the universe, the structure around the temple was built in the 14th century and stands on a high platform near Pushkar lake.A another temple of Hindus is Varah temple.The Varah temple built in the 12th century and Mughal emperor Aurangzeb is said to have destroyed it.And many other temple in pushkar like Gayatri Temple,Ramavaikunth Temple, Mahadeva Temple, Pap Mochini Temple.The Rangji Temple  is also important.

Ghats

The Pushkar Ghat is holy to the Hindus and religious ceremonies are performed simultaneously as camels are being traded.Pushkar has fifty two bathing ghats surrounded the lake, where pilgrims bathe in the sacred waters. If you wish to join them, do it with respect - remove your shoes, don't smoke and don't take photographs. This is not Varanasi and the pilgrim here can be very touchy about insensitive instruction by non - Hindus.


How to Reach Pushkar:

By Air

The nearest airport is Jaipur to reach Pushkar. Jaipur is well connected to all the major cities which includes Delhi, Mumbai, Calcutta, Jodhpur, Udaipur.

By Bus:

Pushkar is 11 km from main Ajmer bus stand. Pushkar is easily reach by bus.There are two major bus stand in Pushkar.One is the Marwar bus stand and second is Ajmer bus stand. There are many buses from Jaipur to Ajmer every 15 minutes, some nonstop. The roads are very good, and it takes around 2 hrs from Jaipur.

By Train:

The nearest railway station for Pushkar is Ajmer, The Broad Gauge railway transport connected to all the metro cities of India. There are daily trains from Delhi in morning (Shatabdi Exp) and evening
