Morni Hills

INTRODUCTION:

Morni Hills are an offshoot of Shivalik range, which run in two parallel ranges of HImalyas. Morni hills located at near Chandigarh. Distance between Chandigarh and Morni Hill just about 45 kms from the city of gardens. It is a beautiful hill resort that has a real scenic beauty. Morni Hills have been named by the Queen Morni.If you are a nature lover and are fond of bird watching, Morni Hill are just apat the place.The village of Morni lies on the mountain side, at 1220 meters or 3600 feet above sea level.MOrni hills is an ideal destination for who loking going to a adventurous trips.who is believed to have ruled this area. Here birds like the Crested Kingfisher, Blue Peafowl, Bar-tailed Tree creeper, Wall creeper, Kalij Pheasant, Quails, Grey Francolin, Black Francolin, Himalayan Bulbul, Red Jungle fowl and Oriental Turtle Dove and animals like Langur, Jackals, Hyenas, Hare, Neelgai, Wild Boar, Kakad (the Barking Deer),Sambar and Leopards can be seen.

Around Morni Hills:

The Old Fort - A very Old fort can also be seen in Morni Hills. The locals  people believe that the fort belonged to the Queen of Morni Hills.

Lakes:There are two lakes or tals around Morni hills which seem to be interconnected mysteriously even though they are separated by a hillock. The water level in both the tals always remains the same., as there is a hidden channel under the hill connecting them. lake is about 550 meters long and 460 meters broad and the other about 365 meters either way.  A small temple on the banks contains a Trimurti (the Hindu Trinity), which dates back to the 12th century AD when a Shiva temple was also supposed to have existed at the site.

How to reach Morni Hills 

By Air:
Chandigarh  is the nearest airport to reach Morni hills. Chandigarh is well connected by air to Amritsar, Leh and Delhi. From Delhi, one can reach anywhere in India and abroad.

By Train:
Nearest railway station is Chandigarh. Chandigarh is well connected to all major cities in India. There are regular train services from Delhi to Chandigarh.
