Thiruchirapalli -A city of rock fort: Tiruchirapalli is situated on the banks of the river Kaveri. Tiruchirappalli is the fourth largest city in Tamilnadu. Tiruchirapalli District and has an area of 146.90 sq km. Common languages spoken are English and Tamil. It was a citadel of the early Cholas which later fell to the Pallavas king. Trichy was first a power center of the French and later the British. During the British time this town was called Trichnopoly. Trichy and its fort built by the Nayaks of Madurai. Trichy is a fine blend of tradition and modernity built around the Rock Fort, the 83-meter high rock outcrop in an otherwise completely flat landscape is enclosed in the Rock Fort. At the top is the Ucchi Pillayar Koil Temple dedicated to Lord Vinayaka. Apart from the Fort, there are several Churches, Colleges and Missions dating back to the 1760s. The city is a prosperous commercial center in Tamilnadu and is famous for artificial diamonds, cigars, hand loom cloth, glass bangles and wooden and clay toys. This city has given great Tamil scholars whose contributions to the Tamil literature have been very significant.

 Attraction in Tiruchirapalli:

Rock Fort Ganapathi Temple: Rock Fort temple and  Ucchi Pillayar koil is two famous 7th century Hindus temple. The Rock Fort temple dedicate to lord Ganesh and the Ucchi Pillayar Koil temple dedicated to lord Shiva. This temple is 83m height and this is the oldest rock in the world dating around 3.800 million years.  344 steps lead to the peak of the temple. This fort was significant as it contributed the British Empire to lay its foundations in India.

Gunaseelam Vishnu Temple: Gunaseelam Vishnu temple is situated in the banks of kaveri in Trichy-Salem route around 15 km away from Trichirapalli. Gunaseelam temple is one of the oldest and important vaishnav temples in south India. 

Sri Rangam Ranga Nathar Temple: This is the districts significant pilgrim center. Srirangam is encircled by the kaveri River and by Kollidam, a tributary on both the sides. There are 7 big walls found around this temple covering next to next each other. It is 3072 feet in length and 2521 feet in breadth. This temple dates back to the 14th century and numerous rulers have contributed in the temple construction such as Cheras, Cholas, Pandyas and Hoysalas. The southern side gopuram is the largest measuring 73m and was completed in 1987. This temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu.

St Joseph's Church:  St. Joesph’s Church is one of the oldest and beautiful churches in India. St. Joesph’s Church is located near Teppakulam in the heart of the town.  St. Joesph’s Church was built in 1792 with the support of British garrison officer’s funding.

By Air : Tiruchirapalli airport is The main airport to reach Tiruchirapalli, is about 5 kms away from the city center.

By Rail : Trichy is an important railhead on the Southern Railway line. It is well connected with important destinations of the state. Chennai, Thanjavur, Chidambaram, Madurai, Tirupathi, Tuticorin and etc.

By Road : National Highway 45 passes through Tiruchirapalli. The distance from Trichy to Chennai and Bangalore are 316 kms and 337 kms respectively.
