Introduction:
Ranthambore National Park is located in Sawai Madhopur District of Rajasthan state. This park is one of the finest tiger reserves in India. Ranthambore was declared a wildlife sanctuary in 1955 and became part of Project Tiger in 1973 and it got it's status of a National Park in 1981.. The Park which covers an area of nearly 400 sq. km. and is set between the Aravali and Vindhya ranges. The different topography of the national park is home to animals like the jackal,mongoose, sloth bear, leopard, and of course, the tiger. There is a huge fort, after which the park is named, towers over the park atop a hill and the Jogi Mahal and the Padam Talao are the unique features of Ranthambore National Park. Many dignitaries have visited Ranthambore National Park to see its majestic tigers. The best time to visit the Ranthambore National park can be either Nov- Feb or April-May.
Attraction:
Flora - The vegetation of the park is mostly dry deciduous type with dhok forming the majority of the trees. Apart from this there are around 300 species of trees and plants found in the park including Aam, Imli, Babul, Banyan, Ber, Dhak (or Chila), Jamun, Kadam, Khajur, Khair, Karel, Khejda, Kakera, Mohua and Neem.
Animals - The Tiger is the major attraction of the Ranthambore National Park. But there is many other animals including Leopards, Striped Hyenas, Indian Wild Boar, Chinkara, Jackals, Indian Flying Foxes, Indian Foxes, Sloth bears, Sambar deer, Chital, Nilgai, Macaques, Small Indian Civets and Common mongoose.
Reptiles – There are many reptile animal in the park include Snub Nosed Marsh Crocodiles, Desert Monitor Lizards, Tortoise, Banded Kraits, Cobras, Common Kraits, Ganga Soft Shelled Turtles, Indian Pythons, North Indian Flap Shelled Turtles, Rat Snakes, Russel's Vipers, Saw-scaled Vipers and the Indian Chamaeleon.
Birds – Ranthambore National Park is the best place for birdwatcher. This Park attracts a whole variety of birds, both resident and migrant. There are around 300 kinds of birds in the park including Parakeet, Myna, Barheaded Goose, Owl, Woodpecker, Kingfisher, Eagle, Partridge, Pigeon, Flycatcher, Hornbill, Cuckoo, Heron, Sparrow, Vulture and Falcon.
