Introduction:
Rameswaram is one of the most sacred towns of India, its dedicated to lord Shiva. Rameswaram is a town in Ramanathapuram district in the Indian state of Tamilnadu. It is located in the deep hollow of Mannar at the very tip of the Indian peninsula. Rameswaram temple corridor is the longest corridor in India. The merits of Sethu Yatra are described in the Vedas and in almost all the Puranas -- Agneya, Bhagavatha, Padma, Shiva and Skanda Puranas, to mention a few. Every one who visits the Varanasi is expected to visit the Rameswaram also for the rise to highest point of his quest for salvation. According to legends, Rameswaram is the place from where Lord Rama, built a bridge Ram Setu(also known as Adam's Bridge) across the sea to Lanka to rescue his consort Sita, from her abductor, Ravana.

Ramanathaswamy Temple: This historic temple is one of the most important temples in South India, located at the heart of the town. This temple is dedicate to lord Shiva. The Ramanathaswamy temple along with Kashi Vishwanath Temple is one of the holiest Hindu shrines in Tamilnadu. This magnificent temple, famous for its 1200 massive granite columns, is a fine instance of late Dravidian architecture.
Agnitheertham: Agnitheertham is one of the most sacred temple in India, it is well known for its temple corridor, it is the longest corridor in India. Agnitheertham, situated 100 meters away from the Ramanathaswamy Temple. The water at this place is considered scared and tourists throng here for a holy bath.
Ramjharoka Temple: Ramjharoka Temple is located in Gandamadana Parvatham. Its a highest point of Rameshwaram and its 5 kms away from Rameshwaram Temple. The shrine preserves the imprint of Lord Rama's feet placed on a Chakra. The footprints of Lord Rama is placed on a Chakra at the Ramjharoka Temple.
Dhanushkodi: Dhanushkodi is 8 km away from Rameswaram town, its named after Lord Rama's bow ('dhanush". It is written in the ancient scriptures that Dhanushkodi is the place from where the army of Lord Rama, started building the bridge to Lanka to reach the kingdom of Ravana(King of Lanka). This temple houses graceful idols of Lord Rama, Sita, Lakshmana, Hanuman and Vibhishana (brother of Ravana).
Adam's Bridge: Adam's Bridge is also known as Ram Setu . This is a chain of reefs, sandbanks and islets that almost connects Sri Lanka with India. The Ram Setu is 48 km long and separates the Gulf of southwest from the northeast. It is believed that this is the series of stepping stones used by Hanuman to follow Ravana, in his attempt to rescue Sita.

Rail: It is a terminus on the Southern Railway meter gauge line and has trains to Chennai, Madurai, Coimbatore, Trichy and Thanjavur.
Road: Rameswaram is well connected by road to all important towns and has bus services from Madurai, Trichy, Coimbatore, Chennai, etc.
