Introduction:
Mussoorie is also known by names like “Honeymoon Capital of India” and “Queen of Hills”.Mussoorie hill station is 34 kms away from Dehradun in Uttrakhand.. It is situated at an altitude of 2003 mts from the sea level in the Garhwal hills. The Mussoorie hill station was discovered by an army officer in 1827. This is one of the most beautiful hill stations in India and the many times visited. Mussoorie gives a beautiful sight of the mighty snow covered Himalayas. This town provide a spectacular view of the Doon Valley. Its pleasant weather is another good thing about Mussoorie. The best time to visit this place is either between mid April to mid May or September to November. The winters are spine chilling whereas the summers are warm with a pleasant climate. Also, major Hindu pilgrimage sites like Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, Yamunotri, Haridwar, Rishikesh are not far from this place.
Attraction in Mussoorie:
Kempty Fall: Kempty falls is one of the most popular waterfalls in Mussoorie. They can be rightly called the ‘star attraction’ of Mussoorie. It is the biggest waterfall here and is located at an altitude of 1370 m from the sea level and almost 15 km away from Mussoorie. The water falls from a staggering height of 4,500 feet and forcefully hits the rocks on its way, before finally splitting into five streams. you will have the opportunity to see one of the finest waterfalls in India
Gun Hill: Gun Hill is the second highest peak in Mussoorie. Gun Hill is a 30 minute uphill walk from Mussoorie, you also take a rope way ride. The 400 mts. Rope way connects the Mall to Gun Hill and makes for a thrilling trip. The hill offers a enchanting view of the Himalayan range like the Srikantha, Pitwara and Gangotri.
Camel's Back Point: The place gets its name is Camel's Back Point, because of a life size rock here actually resembling a camel. You can see this rock from the Mussoorie Public school. The road starts from Rink in Kurli bazaar and goes upto Library Bazaar. Its a 3 k long stretch. This place is a ideal place for taking long walks, pony ride. The Camel's Back Point is also famous for the sunset view from here in the Himalayas.
Lal Tibba: Lal Tibba is the highest point in Mussoorie and it is the most beautiful place around. There you also enjoy a horse ride to the top of the peak to enjoy its natural beauty and splendor. There is some old buildings that remind visitors of the British colonial era. Municipality had placed a Japenese telescope here in 1967. the telescope provide a breath taking views of Badrinath, Kedarnath, Banderpunch and other Himalayan mountain peaks.
