Introduction:
Jim Corbet National Park is the oldest and the biggest park in India. The park was established with name of Hailey National Park in 1936. Hailey National Park was renamed in 1954–55 as Ramganga National Park and was again renamed in 1955–56 as Corbett National Park. Jim Corbet National Park is one of the most memorable faces of the British rule in India, Jim Corbett to most Indians meant more just a naturalist. The Jim Corbet National Park Is Located in the Nainital district and Pauri Garhwal in the state of Uttarakhand. The park is located between 29°25' to 29°39'N latitude and 78°44' to 79°07'E longitude. Famous as the "sahib", Corbett was an Englishman born during the era of colonization in India. The eighth child of Christopher and Mary Jane Corbett, Jim as he was christened, was born in the picturesque hill station of Nainital, nestled amidst the serene locales of the province of present day Uttarakhand. His academic career began at the Oak Openings School, a renowned school of Nainital, after which he went on to complete his higher education at the prestigious institute of St. Joseph's College in Nainital. His professional life began when he joined as a fuel inspector of the Bengal and North Western Railway, with an initial posting at Manakpur in the Punjab. Corbet National Park is well know the world over as the “land of the Trumpet, roar and song” in Corbet National park. Corbett National Park, where the Project Tiger was launched in 1973, is regarded as India's finest national park and its major attractions are the Tiger, Indian Elephant and Leopard.
The Wild Attractions : The Indian tiger is the main attraction in Corbet National Park. There is other animal like the Sloth Bear, Himalayan Black Bear, Dhole, Jackal, Yellow Throated Martem, Himalayan Palm Civet, Indian Grey Mongoose, Common Otter, Porcupine, Clack-taped Hare are the other attractions of this area. Corbett National Park is a grate place for Bird Watchers. There is over 580 kinds of bird. Most of the water birds are migratory birds, and arrive in winters. Some of these are the Greylag, Bar-headed Goose, Duck, Grepe, Snipe, Sandpiper, Gull and wagtail. The residents include Darters, Cormorants, Egrets, Herons, the black-necked Stork and the spur winged Lapwings.
